The DREAM
In November 2022 wine and dog lover Angel Salti set about the dream of establishing her own negociant. This would lead to the emergence of Maison Bow Wow.
The aim, to produce a wine of exceptional quality that reflects its origins, allows for ageing and delivers on a the palate in its youth, thus started a search for perfection.
Wine and animals play a significant role in many of our lives today, Maison Bow-Wow aims to give a little back, therefore 2% of all sales will be donated to charity.
THE SEARCH
Following a comprehensive tasting of barrel samples, the field was narrowed to Burgundy, and two of the most famous villages to be found in the world of wine.
Having selected the wines and acquired the barrels, next would be the bottling of the wine which was carried out under the careful guidance of renowned wine maker and negociant Nicolas Potel, whilst this took place, Angel set about designing the label.
THE FUTURE
We plan to continue to search for exceptional wines, both in Burgundy and further afield, keeping to the ideology of quality and distinction.
THE WINES & THEIR VILLAGES
Puligny Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2021 - £90 / bottle
This delicious Puligny-Montrachet displays attractive peach, marzipan and struck flint notes on the nose. The concentration from older vines and the intensity of the vintage are evident on the palate, and the wine has both appealing vibrancy and satisfying richness. With lovely balance, this classy Burgundy is ready to enjoy now, and will continue to drink well for several years.
PULIGNY MONTRACHET
Puligny Montrachet is known as the most delicate of the white wine appellations south of Beaune. Its wines tend to be linear and mineral offering delicate floral and orchard fruit aromatics. Its village and premier cru vineyard area total slightly over 200 hectares but almost half of them are premier cru making them one of the highest proportions of quality vineyards in the Côte de Beaune. Several grand cru vineyards are present, the most notable being Le Montrachet and Bâtard Montrachet which it shares with neighbouring Chassagne, but it does have the extraordinary Chevalier Montrachet and the tiny Bienvenues Bâtard Montrachet all to itself.
Nuits St. George 1er Cru Les Pruliers 2021 - £95 / bottle
1er cru les Pruliers is certainly one of the firmest wines of the Côte de Nuits. Powerful and fiery, it seduces with its intense flavours of prune and blackberry underlined by a very nice length on the finish. Its spicy touches enhanced by nuances of toasted and roasted notes make this wine an ideal companion to gourmet cooking.
NUITS SAINT GEORGES
The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and Aux Murgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune.
THE LABEL & BOTTLE
The label en-captures ‘Eri’, an original artwork drawn by Angel.
‘Eri’ is a nine year old German Shepherd and Angel’s family dog.
Only 300 bottles have been produced of each wine and to reduce the use of plastics all bottles are sealed with wax.
